UT Update –
George Buswell reported that he is in the process of drafting our summer work plan. He hopes to have it finished up as soon as the snow is out of the ditches so the culverts can be inspected.
Barbara Veilleux reported that they have put the Millinocket Lake Road contract out to bid. They have sent out four bid packages. Bids are due back by May 8th.
Barbara reported that the letters of invitation to participate in the salt bid will be sent to towns this week.
Barbara and George participated in County Day at the State House last Thursday. Attendance by Legislators was poor and very disappointing.
Barbara has placed on the website TIF fund, grant and loan information. Commissioner Davis recommended that she and George visit areas that may be qualify for the monies.
It was recommended to Dick Hansen to speak to Barbara and George regarding the Matagamon Dam bids he recently received.
Administrative Update –
Sheriff today’s jail count is 200. There are 159 males and 41 females, 57 boarded out and 50 inmates in Maine Pre-trial programs.
The building committee will be meeting with WBRC on 4/27.
Today is our Human Relations Director, Joanne McIntyre’s first day at the County.
There was no MCCA conference call last Friday. We need to keep contactitng legislators to support the Maine Criminal Justice recommendation of $15.2M and $ 3 M in supplemental funds.
Sheriff and Bill met Tuesday with the Correction Union Supervisors. Bill and the Sheriff will present to the Commissioners in executive session next Tuesday.
Union supervisor for the Patrol, Jack Parlon has requested a meeting with Bill and the Sheriff to start negotiations for both the line and supervisors of law enforcement. Their contracts expires at the end of the year.
It was brought to Judy Alexander attention at a Treasurers’ Meeting that there will be new 2018 W-4 forms that will need to be filled out and executed this year.
The Registry of Deeds has placed a bid in the newspaper for a new scanner/copier.
Bill has approved training in the Wellness Center for Probation and Parole on April 20th.
Bill has denied use of the Wellness Center to non-campus workers from Probation and Parole.
There are two Tax Abatement Hearings scheduled for May 1st.
Payroll change notices signed for: Tyler Thompson and Michael Azevedo – Comp time; Christopher Boulier - Transfer; Rebecca Woodard and Olivia Smith – Probationary Period Ended; Timothy Wheelden – Resignation.
Payroll Warrant to be approved for: $ 219,959.68
Accounts Payable Warrant to be approved for: $135,735.63
Unorganized Territory Warrant to be approved: $39,868.91
Executive Session---Commissioner Sanborn made a motion to go into Executive Session at 9:35 a.m., under 1 M.R.S.A. § 405 (6) (A) Personnel Matter. Commissioner Davis seconded the motion. Vote to approve passed 2-0. Present were: Bill Collins and Joanne McIntyre. Session ended at 10:20 a.m.
Public Session ---Dick Hansen said he just spoke to Barbara Veilleux about the TIF monies for Matagamon Dam and the three bids received for this project. It is now ready to forward to Maine Stream Finance at Penquis for review.
Meeting Adjourned-
Commissioner Sanborn moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:25 with no further business on the agenda. Commissioner Davis seconded the motion. Moved to approve 2-0.
