Job Summary:
This facility maintenance technician position will provide preventative, routine, and emergency repair and maintenance including but not limited to painting, electrical, plumbing, general carpentry, landscaping, and snow removal. The Facilities team handles a variety of needs on campus and this position requires a cooperative and helpful approach. Work is performed within well established procedures with written and verbal instructions. This position is considered “Essential” during emergency weather events and other major evolutions on campus.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Performing routine maintenance to all buildings and grounds
Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems
Fixing of potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
Complete monthly safety inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and exit signs
Perform monthly emergency generator test
Complete repairs related to carpentry, drywall and painting
Groundskeeping and Snow Removal
Equipment Maintenance
Assembly and installation of replacement furniture and/or equipment
Emergency response related to inclement weather and duty rotation
Maintain proper housekeeping
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Experience required:
Must be a team player, and have an excellent attitude toward working in a diverse setting
Must be willing/able to work as part of a team, but also work alone, with minimal supervision
Working knowledge of the building trades i.e. carpentry, electrical, plumbing and/or HVAC
Must be able to regularly lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Must be able to complete repetitive motions for an extended period of time
Must be familiar with and know when to use Personal Protective Equipment
Must be physically capable to lift, bend, crouch, climb, sit, twist, walk and exert one’s self for extended periods of time.
Must be able to stay focused in a distracting environment
Must be able to multitask
Must be willing/able to operate a variety of landscaping and snow removal equipment
Must have the ability to read and follow manufacturer’s installation instructions
Must have the ability to operate a variety of power tools
Working knowledge of environmental and safety standard
Working knowledge and/or understanding of commercial heating and boiler systems
Maintain highest industry standards related to maintenance and repair
Special Job Requirements:
Minimum 18 years of age
Valid Driver's License preferred
Ability to understand, follow and provide written and/or oral instructions
Successfully pass a full criminal and motor vehicle background check
