Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, the primary function of this position is to perform all housekeeping and cleaning duties within the Penobscot County Campus Facilities, excluding inside the secure portions (where inmates/unescorted trustees are present) of Penobscot County Jail, and assist the maintenance staff with general housekeeping and cleaning of the campus grounds.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Follow cleaning guideline/rotation as directed by Director
Communicate with coworkers and assist, if necessary, to ensure the needs of the County are being met
Knowledge/Skills/Experience required:
Must be a team player, and have an excellent attitude toward working in a diverse setting
Must be willing/able to work as part of a team, but also work alone, with minimal supervision
Must be familiar with modern cleaning methods, materials, tools and equipment
Safe use and operation of equipment and chemicals used in janitorial and custodial work
Follow all safe work practices, including, but not limited to, Bloodborne Pathogens protocols
Respond promptly to requests of internal and external clients; provide needed information, assistance, training, materials and resources
Plan, organize and prioritize own work to meet deadlines and accomplish assigned tasks within established timelines including maintaining accurate records and files
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during performance of job duties
Be flexible and receptive to change
Understand and apply principles, techniques and procedures required for effective job performance
Must be able to regularly lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Must be able to complete repetitive motions for an extended period of time
Must be familiar with and know when to use Personal Protective Equipment
Must be physically capable to lift, bend, crouch, climb, sit, twist, walk and exert one’s self for extended periods of time.
Must be able to stay focused in a distracting environment
Must be able to multitask
Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties
Requirements:
· Successfully pass a full personal, criminal, and motor vehicle background check.
· High School Diploma/GED
· 5 years experience preferred, but willing to train the right person.
Scheduled Hours:
The position is a 40-hour work week Monday through Friday, 3 pm - 11pm.
