Summary:

Monitors daily activity of the Corrections division to ensure the safety and security of the Jail facility, inmates, employees and the public. Ensures that the Jail facility adheres to all state and federal laws/regulations. Coordinates the administration and care of inmates to maintain organization and control of the Jail facility. Provides Jail Captain, Chief Deputy and/or the Sheriff with accurate and timely information related to daily operations. Monitors inmate administration to ensure treatment and procedures meet all standards. Coordinates security functions for the jail to maintain safety and security of the facility, personnel, and the public. This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the Assistant Jail Administrator. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. This is a full time, regular position. The hours of work vary.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 19 years of age.

  2. High School Diploma/G.E.D.

  3. Passing ALERT Test Score

  4. Certified as a Corrections Officer by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy within 1 year.

Preferred skills or qualifications:

  1. College Degree

  2. Supervision and/or management certification and training

  3. Public safety experience

  4. Penobscot County residency
